Chesterfield Avenue, Phoenix Park

J.J.Campbell and Associates provided full civil engineering design, QS services, PSDP, Resident Engineer; all under Public Works Contract. The Works included the following:

∙ replacing existing road build-up;
∙ resurfacing of Phoenix Roundabout;
∙ footpaths resurfacing at Gough Roundabout;
∙ reconditioning and realignment of existing granite kerbs;
∙ installation of filter drain and new drainage at Gough Roundabout;
∙ installation of ESB supply to lighting at Gough Roundabout
∙ installation of road markings and road studs.

Chesterfield Avenue is the main road through the Phoenix Park. It is also a major traffic artery from West Dublin to the City Centre. The Phoenix Park has been managed as a National Historic Park since it was designated in 1986. This designation was given to highlight the historic elements of the Park. The Park is home to several monuments of archaeological importance including cemetery mounds, enclosures, dwelling sites, wells, tower house, star shaped fortifications, Magazine Fort, etc.
