North Dock, 91-94 North Wall Quay

The office building has been awarded ‘Commercial Project of the Year – Large’ category at the Irish Construction Industry Award. There are 20,000 sq.m of Grade A office space, located immediately beside the 3 Arena in Dublin’s Docklands. JJ Campbell and Associates provided Civil and Structural Engineering services on the project, which was completed in 2020. The project is also the city’s first Grade-A office building to achieve Near Zero Energy Building.

The structural frame consists of an 8-storey composite metal deck slab construction with two RC cores. Slabs are supported by internal cellular beams and solid edge beams, supported on steel columns typically on 15m x 6m grid. The semi-basement structure is located 1m below street level. RC retaining walls are provided along the perimeter of the building where required. The stability of the structure is obtained through two reinforced concrete cores. All lateral loading to the structure is transmitted to these cores through diaphragm action via the composite slabs at each level.
